MOC: We Oppose Law-Changes That Allow Legal Recognition of Gender

The central board of SDSM informed that the MPs from the ruling majority decided to
withdraw the law-changes focusing on the introduction of legal recognition of gender, while
they will initiate broader debates over the law-changes for introduction of gender equality.
However, these decisions did not change the positions of the Synod of the Macedonian
Orthodox Church (MOC), which held a press conference calling once again citizens to
massively attend the protest against these law-changes scheduled for Thursday. “With this
protest, we explicitly voice our opposition against the law text which will allow legal change
and recognition of gender only with a legal statement by an individual based on their
individual and subjective feelings about themselves,” said Bishop Jakov of Stobi.
