The Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Directorate for Protection of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecutor’s Office expressly completed the investigation into the tombstone of Duke Skocivirceto in Klepac, Prilep, for which Bulgaria handed the country a diplomatic note. It was determined that the replacement of the plaque was made by a member of the duke’s family, and it was concluded that the tombstone does not belong to any status of protected cultural monument or natural rarity, but that it is a private grave and tombstone. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs appeals to such personal and private acts not to be given political and ideological directions, which, in turn, burden the efforts of the two countries to promote mutual relations,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
