No progress Made at Monday’s meeting on PPO Draft Law

Monday’s talks on the part of the Public Prosecutor’s Office Draft Law concerning the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) ended only in a deal on a new meeting. VMRO-DPMNE considers that the SPO should be a special department instead of a separate office. The opposition party has demanded also for all investigations started after 30 June 2017 to be stopped. The government’s representatives find those positions unacceptable. The leader of SDSM’s working group, Justice Minister Renata Deskoska, says that that would see a big number of pieces evidence that can prove crucial in processes lost. SDSM has called for political interests to be put aside during the talks. VMRO-DPMNE Vice President Vlado Misajlovski is of the opinion that principles of work should be established in order for progress to be made. The opposition has until Thursday to transform its remarks about the Draft Law into amendments and submit them to the government. The attempts to reach a solution acceptable to both sides will continue on Friday.
