The OSCE/ODIHR observation team, which arrived in the country on 19 June, is ready for work and members already held meetings with the State Election Commission, where they were briefed on the progress of the election process. The mission consists of seven experts, who will be housed in Skopje and will monitor the entire election process from the capital. The team includes the head of the mission, his deputy, a political and electoral analyst, as well as an analyst for voter registration, a legal and media adviser. The mission will last for three weeks. Prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) announced 250 short-term observers on election day, as well as representatives of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Council of Europe, as well as its own long-term observers. However, they informed that they were forced to suspend this observation mission for the early elections in Macedonia due to travel restrictions, but also due to health concerns. They stressed that, as always, OSCE observers will work closely with the authorities in the country during the election process.
