Foreign Affairs Minister Bujar Osmani believes that the proposition of the Portuguese presidency over the EU, which lasted from 1 January to 30 June 2021, is the best grounds for finding solution of the bilateral issues between North Macedonia and Bulgaria. “We find the Portuguese proposal quite useful in this process, because at the same time it will allow us to continue with negotiations and unblocking of the EU accession talks,” Osmani said, adding that the comments about eventual proposal addressed by Skopje to Sofia was in fact about the Portuguese proposal. The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also informed that they have been presented the aforementioned proposal as late as February 2022 and that it has been rejected by official Sofia.
