Osmani on Starting Negotiations with EU

“The issue of starting negotiations is not our question, but it is a question for the European Union, what they will do with this process, and with the region. Will they preserve the credibility of this process. Clear messages need to be given regarding the region. I know the messages, because 26 member states are disappointed with what is happening and know that North Macedonia deserves to start negotiations immediately,” said Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, in response to a question about the realistic expectations for progress in the situation with Bulgaria. Osmani reminded that the situation in Bulgaria is politically unpredictable, the third round of elections is underway and at this moment it is important not to cut off communication with Sofia. The Minister pointed out that it is obvious that the ball is not in North Macedonia’s yard, but in Brussels’ and Sofia’s.
