The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister, Bujar Osmani, in a video address, opened on Monday the Warsaw Human Dimension Conference.
“The Russian military aggression against Ukraine is the biggest test in terms of whether we can manage to achieve our common pledges. We’re witnessing constant violence, discrimination, and inequalities throughout the whole world. We’re seeing threats against freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association. We’re seeing attacks on the rule of law and erosion of democratic institutions,” he said, adding that the new threats, such as the influence of new technology on privacy and the effect of climate change on social equality, were worsening those challenges.
As the OSCE Chairperson added, the challenges can be overcome jointly, by giving civil society the key place in the efforts.
