Panova Asks Joveski to Leave Race for Constitutional Court Judge

Only VMRO-DPMNE MPs discussed at Wednesday’s debate on the Annual Report on the Work of the Council of Public Prosecutors for 2021. They were more focused on Chief Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski’s nomination as member of the Constitutional Court. VMRO-DPMNE MP Eli Panova asked Joveski to leave the race, saying his nomination was one of the reasons why citizens were losing their trust in the judiciary. As she added, though there are 33 crimes related to corruption in the Report, the Office presents data only on three. Joveski said he had been nominated by people that valued his work so far. He added that he was proud of his past, his profession, and what he had given to the profession. According to VMRO-DPMNE MP Dragan Kovacki, the report has a conclusion but does not include recommendations. Regarding the race for new head of Skopje’s Higher Prosecutor’s Office, the third attempt will be on Friday. There is only one candidate, Mustafa Hajrulahi.
