Peer Review Mission over Judicial Council Starts

The peer review mission sent by the EU entered the Judicial Council on Thursday. In the first stage, a team of four representatives will go through the work of judges and evaluate their work.

Former Croatian Supreme Court President Branko Hrvatin, who leads the mission, told Sitel on Thursday he was coming to Skopje as part of an expert visit, adding that opinions would be exchanged with Judicial Council members. After the meeting, the Council didn’t reveal Hrvatin’s remarks. The mission will be in Skopje on Friday too.

The process will see two stages, but urgent measures are planned to restore the judicial body’s credibility and independence. Thursday also saw the Council announce a competition in the frames of the procedure to elect a new member, following Nake Georgiev’s resignation.
