The President of Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski is convinced that Bulgaria will not obstruct the process for integration of Macedonia in the EU. “First of all, we need to be provided with a date for start of the membership negotiations, and then we can discuss conditions for further processing, when all EU member-states establish a framework for the negotiations from their national aspects. We cannot discuss the positions of EU member-states on certain issues in relation to the integration of North Macedonia before the actual start of the membership negotiations, which will probably occur in the middle of 2020. I have not spoken to Bulgarian President Rumen Radev yet, but I am certain that Bulgaria will not obstruct our integration in the EU,” Pendarovski says.
