During his official visit of the Headquarters of the Macedonian Army (ARM) in Tetovo, President Stevo Pendarovski said that state officials intend to prolong the state of emergency on the entire territory of the country for another 30 days. “The situation in our county is not escalating, but risks are yet to be reduced too. For the first time in the history of our country we declared state of emergency, but also the world is facing a pandemic like this for the first time. We are to assemble the Security Council on Thursday, and once the current state of emergency ends, we will most probably proclaim a new one, also for a period of 30 days, because we still need such measures to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. Our main focus will be improvement of the cooperation between ARM and the units of local self-government. Thanks to such cooperation, the situation in Debar and Centar Zupa deescalated, and we have no new cases of COVID-19 in these municipalities for more than 10 days now,” Pendarovski said. Later on Tuesday, the Government adopted a decision to deliver to the President of Macedonia and the Security Council a report of the measures implemented during the 30-day state of emergency, and to ask them to proclaim another 30-day state of emergency on Thursday.
