President Stevo Pendarovski, as part of his working visit to Ukraine on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the country’s independence, met Monday in Kiev with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. At the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the latest developments in the context of the European Union enlargement process, as well as on Macedonia’s progress in key reform areas and the possibilities for holding the first intergovernmental conference. President Pendarovski reaffirmed the view that holding the first intergovernmental conference in near future, is a key priority for North Macedonia, emphasizing the need for the European Union to step up efforts to boost relations with the Western Balkans. President Pendarovski reaffirmed the position that bilateral issues should not be an obstacle to valorising the progress of any country on the road to the European Union and that in that context a solution should be sought for North Macedonia.
