Petkov’s Advisor Accused of Giving Bulgarian State Secrets to North Macedonia

Vessela Tcherneva, a Bulgarian MP and advisor to ex-Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, is under investigation for providing secret information to Macedonia in the negotiations between Skopje and Sofia. Tcherneva is accused of “coordinating the position of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a Macedonian citizen during the negotiation process of North Macedonia with the European Union”. The information, without mentioning the name, was shared by Plamen Tonchev, the head of the state agency for national security, during the debate in the Bulgarian Assembly. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani, asked to comment on the allegations of the Bulgarian security service in a statement for media, where he stated that they conducted the most difficult negotiations with Tcherneva, as an advisor to the Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov.
