PM of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovacevski held a meeting in Sofia with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev. Kovacevski was joined by all the ministers which comprise the governmental delegation which took part in the intergovernmental conference between official Skopje and Sofia. At the meeting, Kovacevski voiced hope that after new governments were established in both countries, they can proceed with negotiations in order to overcome the bilateral issues which currently prevent the integration of North Macedonia in the EU. “We shall pledge for dialogue, with respect to the European values and respect of the dignity of the citizens of North Macedonia and of Bulgaria. We believe that this friendly atmosphere will create good conditions for the processes for resolution of the disputes to finally start to move,” Kovacevski told Radev, with both of them agreeing that contributions to the progress are expected by all sides involved in the negations on the highest political level. While in Sofia, Kovacevski also held a meeting with President of the Bulgarian Parliament Nikola Minchev. At the meeting, Kovacevski welcomed the observation of the 30th anniversary since the Bulgarian parliament recognised the independence of North Macedonia on 15 January 1992, which also coincides with the anniversary since the accession of Bulgarian in the EU back in January 2007, for which Kovacevski voiced hope that these dates will be a reason for another celebration of resolution of the bilateral disputes between the two countries. The interlocutors also welcomed the initiatives of both the Parliaments in Skopje and in Sofia for establishment of a more direct cooperation through working groups.
