Within the frameworks of his visit to Slovenia, PM Zoran Zaev held a meeting on Tuesday with counterpart Marjan Sarec. The excellent traditional friendly relations between Skopje and Ljubljana were confirmed as a basis for an even more intensive cooperation. Zaev familiarised him with the current political situation in Macedonia, which, with the successful presidential elections and with the pace of the reform process realisation, rightfully expects membership negotiations to be opened, the Macedonian Government said in the press-release. In that regard, Zaev stated that it would be of special importance to Macedonia for Slovenia to continue to strongly support the country in the current stage of the road to EU and NATO membership. After the meeting, Sarec said Slovenia would pledge for Macedonia to get a date at the June summit. Zaev stated that he had meet Slovenian President Borut Pahor, too.
