Political Parties React to Draft Negotiating Framework Confirmation

In response to the news from Brussels, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said that Macedonia is accelerating the road to EU, and the use of the term “Macedonian” in the document is a confirmation of the existence of the Macedonian language. SDSM President Zaev stated that by making the Macedonian language official in European legislation, it is proving that the language has not been lost, as claimed by VMRO-DPMNE. He called on the opposition to welcome the country’s European progress. VMRO-DPMNE welcomed the European Commission’s Draft Negotiation Framework for Macedonia, but believes that the government is creating false euphoria before the elections. Opposition Party International Secretary Timco Mucunski says this is not an extraordinary success, but an expected procedure. Mucunski adds that the Macedonian language is not yet official in the Union, and that, he says, will happen once the country becomes a full member.
