In a video address on the occasion of New Year’s on Sunday, President Gjorge Ivanov said that everyone wants to forget 2018 as soon as possible and 2019 to be a year when the wishes and dreams of all citizens come true. In it, he underlines the importance of fundamental human values. “Let’s be brave before the call of responsibility and let all of us together get committed and build a just society founded on truth, peace and freedom. Only in a successful and prosperous fatherland will we be able to make our wishes come true,” he stressesNew Year’s addresses were also delivered by PM and SDSM leader Zoran Zaev and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski. The former talked about several topics, with the focus being on the developments related to Macedonia’s road to EU and NATO integration, whereas the latter said 2019 would see “the darkness” defeated. The same day, such addresses were also delivered by the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Mila Carovska, who called for even stronger work in 2019 in order to make Macedonia a nicer place to live.
