PM Dimitar Kovacevski once again stated that VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan
Mickoski accepted during their meeting last week to provide support for the
constitutional changes and that now he has to keep his word. “We have no time for
interpretations of who said what. Mickoski clearly said that VMRO-DPMNE would
support constitutional changes, and if he doesn’t stand behind that, he would greatly
disappoint the citizens and the international community. It is up to VMRO-DPMNE to
join these processes and remain in them till the end, so that we can see our country
integrated in the EU by 2030. DUI and our other allies in the ruling majority accepted
this, and now we need to work on it,” Kovacevski said. Mickoski on the other hand stated
that he is still waiting for an answer by Kovacevski about which of his two proposals is
acceptable for him. “It makes no sense for them to form working groups and to continue
talking about the changes if they have not accepted any of our proposals yet. Our goal is
not for VMRO-DPMNE to come to power by any means, but to build a process for
establishment of a national unity,” Mickoski said, reiterating that VMRO-DPMNE did
not agree to constitutional changes yet.
