President Pendarovski: Problems in Judiciary have Existed Since 1990

According to President Stevo Pendarovski, the judiciary is at its lowest point. He presented that stand in an interview with the Fokus weekly, saying there was no need for him to voice an assessment of the judiciary because citizens did so.

As Pendarovski noted, there have been problems in the judiciary since 1990 because it has never become independent from the centres of political and, even more so, economic power. Asked about potential solutions, his stand is that quick, short-term ones are not possible.

Pendarovski stated that that was primarily so because over the past 30 years, every political structure, some more, others less, had basically established the policy of impunity. According to him, there is no progress if there is impunity for people who obviously break laws.
