Presidential race: Siljanovska Davkova collects 10,000 signatures

Despite being nominated by VMRO-DPMNE, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova started on Friday the procedure to collect 10,000 signatures to enter the presidential race. Even though she can enter the race with support from MPs from Hristijan Mickoski’s party, Siljanovska Davkova had said as early as at the Convention in Struga that she would collect the signatures to present herself as an above-party citizens’ candidate. The following day, VMRO-DPMNE Sec Gen Igor Janusev, who was one of those that signed, expressed support for Siljanovska Davkova. Regarding the campaign, he said his party was still working on its method, that is, it was deciding whether it would be the traditional approach in terms of organising rallies and presenting programmes or something new would nonetheless be introduced. The same day, Mickoski, too, put his signature. In her, we have the winner in the presidential elections,he said. Stevco Jakimovski’s party, GROM, will support VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate. The same day, Siljanovska Davkova said she’d collected the signatures. On the other hand, SDSM said VMRO-DPMNE and its presidential candidate would be defeated.  Also on Saturday, the insight into the voter list for the presidential elections started. It will last until 14 March. According to the State Election Commission President Oliver Derkoski, there are no problems with the list, that is, it doesn’t include so-called phantom voters. Regarding signatures for other potential candidates, Filip Petrovski said he was facing obstructions in several cities, while Amdi Bajrami has received solid support in the SEC offices in Cair. Commenting on Petrovski’s stands, the SEC said there were no problems, that is, everything was regular.
