Protest Against French Proposal at Same Time with Parliamentary Session

A greater group of citizens staged on Thursday another protest against the French proposal. The protest started in front of the Parliament in Skopje around noon, parallel with the parliamentary session over the French proposal, at which European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed the MPs. During the protest, the protesters addressed messages at the MPs to not accept the French proposal, and some of them even threw eggs, rocks and other objects at the parliamentary building. The police reacted immediately, arresting four protesters who threw objects at the building. Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski called upon the citizens to stage their protest and demonstrate their revolt in a peaceful atmosphere, adding that citizens that act violently shall face responsibility. New protests have been announced for Friday around 11:00 a.m.
