Radev: We Are Not Guided by Deadlines, But by Results

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said that he was pleased that European leaders “finally understood where the real problem with North Macedonia was” and that all attempts to put pressure on Sofia were counterproductive. “At all European councils – since May, I have talked to every European leader on the topic of North Macedonia. I want to thank them, because for the second time the topic is off the agenda. Our partners have finally understood where the real problem is. The problem has a profound effect on the very foundations of the EU itself – human rights and non-discrimination,” Radev told Bulgarian media in Brussels, where he is attending the sixth Eastern Partnership and European Council Summit. Radev, as reported by BGNES, stressed that Sofia will continue to defend its position, not only history, pointing out that the main priority is to respect the human rights of people with Bulgarian identity.
