Rama Makes Undiplomatic Joke about Skopje and ‘future west Bulgaria’

With an undiplomatic joke, Albanain PM Edi Rama interjected in the handshake between German Chancellors Olaf Scholz and PM Dimitar Kovacevski at the Summit of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Thessaloniki. While Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis was presenting to Scholz Rama and Kovacevski, the latter as Prime Minister of North Macedonia, the former interjected by saying “future west Bulgaria”, after which everyone laughed diplomatically. Rama’s undiplomatic joke sparked a lot of reactions. According to VMRO-DPMNE, Kovacevski “humiliated Macedonia”. In response, SDSM said on Saturday twisting ironical stands would not help VMRO-DPMNE, which had accepted an EPP resolution with Bulgarian stands. The following day, Rama said on Twitter he ironised the “ugly blockade” for Skopje by Sofia.
