In the wee hours of Saturday, after a several-hour-long discussion, Parliament dismissed Rashela Mizrahi as caretaker Labour and Social Policy Minister. According to VMRO-DPMNE, the dismissal is a result of SDSM leader and ex-PM Zoran Zaev’s “totalitarian regime”. The opposition party believes that the decision to dismiss her was made because there was great fear, not over a violation of the Constitution. Refuting the opposition stand that SDSM has become afraid of Mizrahi because she has revealed “criminal operation” of the previous head of the Ministry, Mila Carovska, caretaker PM Oliver Spasovski said it was unserious to play games with the Constitution. In her speech before MPs, Mizrahi highlighted several times that she was Jewish. As she added, her colleagues have had an issue with that since the start of her term. According to SDSM, there has to be accountability if somebody doesn’t respect both the position they hold and signed agreements. VMRO-DPMNE still hasn’t decided whether it will nominate a successor.
