Reactions to Goce Delcev Declaration Filed by VMRO-DPMNE Continue

According to Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, the Declaration on Goce Delcev filed by VMRO-DPMNE is taking the country backwards in the negotiations with Bulgaria. As he said on Tuesday, there was a similar initiative by Krasimir Karakachanov’s VMRO in Sofia’s Parliament regarding Ss Cyril and Methodius. Osmani pointed out that history shouldn’t be used as a platform to build political careers, for daily political matters, and for accusations. Above-party unity, in Osmani’s view, is needed over the issue. The same day, VMRO-DPMNE MP Ivanka Vasilevska said there was nothing problematic with the Declaration. She also stated that SDSM still hadn’t said what it found contested in the text. “The goal of the party is to unite all stakeholders in society around the importance of Delcev’s work and life in the revolutionary struggle for Macedonian statehood,” she stressed, urging SDSM to, as she pointed out, seriously read the document.
