Reactions to Janeva’s Arrest continue

The Deputy PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani said at a press conference that the recent events in relation to the “Racketeering” case and the arrest of the Head of the Special Public Prosecution (SPO) Katica Janeva are indicating that the judicial institutions of Macedonia function properly. “Non-selective struggle against crime and corruption is crucial for integration of our country in the EU, for the tolerance for problems like this there is very low,” Osmani said. British Ambassador to Macedonia Rachel Galloway says that it is important for the citizens to see that the legal institutions are functioning properly. “The effectiveness and integrity of the entire legal system is condition for national stability and prosperity, and this case gives the right chance to the institutions to show that they function properly that they are not selective in the implementation of justice,” Galloway said. Prosecutor Fatime Fetai is the first official from SPO to comment on Janeva’s arrest. “What we witnessed recently is a clear indication that no one is above the law and that anyone who broke the law and committed criminal activities shall be held responsible,” Fetai said.
