The removal of platforms in Struga has started. At the lakeside on Monday,
concessioners started the activities on their own, upon an order of local authorities.
Mayor Ramiz Merko, who conducted insight at the lakeside together with the Minister of
Political System and Inter-Community Relations, Artan Grubi, who also serves as First
Deputy PM, said six platforms would be removed in order to preserve the UNESCO
status of the region. Unlike Ohrid, where the facilities at the beaches were being
removed, hospitality venues in Struga will continue to function. “All of them pay a fee, as
ordered in the 2010 approvals. There are no illegal constructions here. What we do is for
solidarity,” Merko stated.
