Ruskovska: Zaev told us first about “Racketeering” Case

In relations to the “Racketeering” case, the Public Prosecutor for Organised Crime Vilma Ruskovska revealed on Thursday that it was PM Zoran Zaev who notified her of businesspeople complaining to him they are being blackmailed. “The PM notified us of these events, and said that if necessary, he is ready to file criminal charges. However, we advised him that it is better for the witnesses to come to the Public Prosecution Office (PPO) and provide statements and file charges by themselves,” Ruskovska said. During a press conference on Wednesday, Zaev said that he notified PPO of these events. In the “Racketeering” case, 1TV owner Bojan Jovanovski and Kicevo-based businessman Zoran Mileski are charged with extortion and money laundering, and there are indications for possible involvement of the Head of the Special Public Prosecution (SPO) Katica Janeva. Janeva remains unavailable for comments about the case, and from SPO they notified the public on Thursday that Janeva is on sick leave since 16 July 2019.
