Salary Increase Deal Struck by Education Trade Union and Government

On Monday afternoon, the Government and Trade Union of Education, Science, and Culture reached a deal on the salary rise. The education workers’ salaries will increase by 12%. “It’s about 12% with supplements resulting from the Collective Agreement Law,” Nedelkov noted. The increase would start not later than July. Earlier that day, the chances of a deal being reached hadn’t look high because at a press-conference before noon, the Trade Union announced the strike in kindergartens and schools would continue. European Trade Union Committee for Education Director Susan Flocken expressed solidarity with the Trade Union Education’s demands.
