SDSM has maintained that the early elections, “despite VMRO-DPMNE’s wishes”, will be held in 2024. According to the ruling party, it’s not true that there is a majority that support Hristijan Mickoski’s party. SDSM Parliamentary Group Coordinator Jovan Mitreski says Monday’s coordination meeting hosted by Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi will see a discussion on the dynamism of work, not on the issue of constitutional changes. “Regarding the changes, after the holding of the leaders’ meeting, I expect the consultation process with all stakeholders to continue,” he notes, adding that he also expects everyone to prioritise the European future of the country and its citizens instead of the “narrow-party interest”. In response, Nikola Micevski, Coordinator of VMRO-DPMNE’s Group of MPs, points out that his party sees no reason to participate in the coordination meeting. “We can participate in the constitutional changes debates, but we will just reiterate our stand,” he stresses.
