SDSM to Discuss on Friday Proposal for VMRO-DPMNE to Join Ruling Majority

The central board and the executive committee of SDSM are to assemble on Friday in
order to discuss the current political situation in the country, after VMRO-DPMNE leader
Hristijan Mickoski accepted to support the constitutional changes upon condition for his
party to replace DUI in the ruling majority. SDSM MP Bogdanka Kuzeska informed
about this at a press conference, saying that it is essential for the party bodies to hold
meetings due to the recent changes in the political stage in the country, and that the
meetings are initiated by PM and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovacevski. VMRO-DPMNE
leader Mickoski said that they will wait upon a final decision from SDSM over the
proposals exchanged at the meeting with PM Kovacevski last Wednesday. He also
pointed out once again that VMRO-DPMNE will support the constitutional change only
if DUI leave the ruling majority, and only if the changes become effective in the very
moment when the country is integrated in the EU in order to avoid further blockades.
Deputy PM in charge of European Affairs Bojan Maricic proposed in meantime for
formation of working groups by SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE that would work on all
procedures relevant to the process for endorsement and adoption of the constitutional
changes in the parliament. Concerning the idea for DUI to leave the ruling majority,
Maricic believes that all political parties and factors should be included in the processes
for integration of the country in the EU.
