On Sunday night, the independent Skopje mayoral candidate supported by VMRO-DPMNE, Danela Arsovska, declared victory. “For the first time in 30 years of independent Macedonia, Skopje has a woman as its mayor,” she said. According to Arsovska, the battle was against not only the other candidate, Petre Silegov, but also against the “outgoing PM”. She also stated that the “black campaign” hadn’t harmed her, adding that she would now be able to seek responsibility for “what hasn’t been done so far”. Silegov congratulated Arsovska on her victory.
