Sofia Addresses Letter of Protest to Skopje over Hate Speech During Protests

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed to official Skopje a letter of protest in relation to the recent protests against the French proposal. In the note, official Sofia reacts to, as they claim, the numerous manifestations and paroles directed against Bulgaria during the protests and on social networks. “It is especially concerning that these malevolent manifestations in public spaces are escalating in a time when both Skopje and Sofia are trying to find mutually acceptable solutions for their open bilateral issues, for the sake of the European integration of North Macedonia. We believe that such events will remain in the past, and that we will be able to turn a new page in our bilateral relations, full of mutual understanding, respect and friendship,” the Bulgarian MoFA writes.
