“Zoran Zaev hasn’t submitted his resignation as SDSM President,” sources from the party told Kanal 5 TV on Friday, in response to media reports that Zaev has done so. “It’s not about a formal resignation submitted by Zaev, but rather about the resignation announced by him at the 31 October press-conference,” SDSM explained. Earlier that day, the party’s leadership had held a meeting, determining the next steps. They will be effectuated starting from Monday. Considering the new Statute of SDSM provides for intra-party elections for party leader, the party is supposed to soon organise such a process to elect Zaev’s successor. As the party added, with Zaev’s resignation, the entire leadership is resigning, too.
