PM Zoran Zaev said on Saturday that Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi had delivered an address in Albanian at the EP in contradiction with North Macedonia’s Constitution. According to him, at two sessions in the European Parliament, Xhaferi was speaking in Macedonian, while the third saw him use Albanian because he was “provoked by some individuals from neighbouring Bulgaria”. Zaev added that he would not seek accountability. He expects Xhaferi to explain what happened in the European Parliament. VMRO-DPMNE criticised Zaev statement, saying that Xhaferi should leave the position of Speaker instead of explaining himself.
