On Thursday, the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) filed two charges in relation to the Thaler case. The first one concerns illegal financing of VMRO-DPMNE, while the other pertains to the construction of the party’s HQ in the centre of Skopje. The first charge covers, among others, former VMRO-DPMNE leader and ex-PM Nikola Gruevski, MP Ilija Dimovski, ex-Transport Minister Mile Janakieski and former Government Sec Gen Kiril Bozinovski, while the second covers just Gruevski and Bozinovski. The same day, during the trial over the Trajectory case, a decision was made upon a request from the SPO for Gruevski, who’s been granted asylum in Hungary, to be tried in absentia.
