Judicial Council members Mirjana Radevska-Stefkova and Zoran Gerasimovski announced
on Tuesday that they resign from their positions in the council. The reasons for their
resignations are not disclosed yet. Radevska-Stefkova was a judge at the Supreme Court,
while Gerasimovski was a judge at the Appellate Court in Skopje, and they were elected
Judicial Council members a while ago. Their resignations come in a time in which the
Judicial Council is target of serious criticism, especially after the dismissal of President
Vesna Dameva, with media speculating that that decision is related to the procedures in
which the Judicial Council is to determine responsibility of Judge Enver Bexheti from the
Appellate Court after it was revealed that he did not process the verdict from the Target-
Fortress case. Ultimately, the Appellate Court annulled the verdict and recommended restart
of the trial over the case.
