US Ambassador Aggeler in Interivew with Kapital Weekly

In an interview with the Kapital weekly, US Ambassador Angela Aggeler says her country’s investment in the judicial progress has unfortunately not had the expected return. “Over the past 30 years, we’ve invested half a billion dollars in programmes for the rule of law and good governance, but we’re not seeing improvements and reforms we could expect with such a big investment. However, ultimately, the systemic corruption in the whole country more directly harms people in North Macedonia than us. All of you deserve a society, judiciary, government whose actions are transparent and serve you – citizens. That’s a cornerstone of a fair and functional democracy,” she says, adding that the Government, regardless of which party is in power, has to focus on that.
