The US Department of State informed on Wednesday that they have approved the procurement of 54 military vehicles of the type STRYKER for the necessities of the Macedonian Army (ARM) in accordance with the NATO standards. The procurement, which is worth around 210 million dollars, is part of the already initiated project for procurement of light armoured vehicles from the plans for modernisation of ARM. The project is realised as a form of cooperation between the Governments of Macedonia and of the US through the programme Foreign Military Sales (FMS), with the vehicles being procured from the US companies Oshkosh Defence and General Dynamics Land Systems. The vehicles are expected to be delivered to Macedonia starting with 2022. From the US Agency for Defence Cooperation, they report that this procurement will improve the security of Macedonia, an important segment for the political and economic stability of the country.
