A spokesperson of the US Department of State told “Voice of America” that Macedonia and Bulgaria should resolve their bilateral disputes outside of the processes for accession of Macedonia in the EU. “The accession of North Macedonia in the EU is a mutual goal of ours, and we would like to see the first inter-governmental session between Brussels and Skopje taking place by the end of 2020. Any delays in this process would rekindle the questioning of EU’s credibility in the Balkans, which is a serious risk. The US remains a strong supporter of the Euro-Atlantic integration of North Macedonia,” they stated from the US Department of State.
