At Tuesday’s protest, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski described Goce Delcev as the red line of “our dignity and identity”. Also, he said the revolutionary was the pillar of “our existence as a people”. PM Zoran Zaev, according to Mickoski, is not the future. “We’re protesting because Delcev is a European value, too, because his idea for freedom and cultural elevation of a people is one on which the EU, too, rests, with our future being exactly there, in the EU. Our future is exactly there, in the EU, and it will come, but without these people in power. Zaev isn’t the future, he’s the threat to the future of this people, to Macedonians, Albanians, Serbs, Vlachs, Turks, Bosniaks, and all those living in our dear and beloved Macedonia,” the opposition leader said, adding that Delcev was the symbol of Macedonia. SDSM reacted by saying that Mickoski had worked for three years against the EU and NATO.
