Until the deal with Sofia is abandoned, VMRO-DPMNE will not support constitutional changes, opposition leader Hristijan Mickoski said at a press-conference on Tuesday. He is adamant that his party is not against Bulgarians being part of the Constitution. However, Mickoski described the deal as assimilatory, adding that it should be abandoned. The collection of signatures will start on Wednesday afternoon. According to the VMRO-DPMNE President’s announcement, his party’s MPs will be the first to sign. What’s needed for a referendum to be held is 150,000 signatures and the procedure in Parliament being carried oud. Mickoski believes that there will be no obstruction in the frames of the legislative home. The expectations are that the referendum would be held in spring. For it to be successful, 910,000 votes are needed.
