VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM Continue Row over Constitutional Changes

VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM continue with the trading of accusations and arguments about
whether and what has been accepted or agreed at the meeting of party leaders Hristijan
Mickoski and Dimitar Kovacevski, respectively, over the processes for adoption of
constitutional changes. VMRO-DPMNE MP Mile Lefkov said that SDSM and Kovacevski
continue to avoid to make a decision about the proposals offered by VMRO-DPMNE leader
Mickoski. “Thanks to our insisting, the German Bundestag adopted a resolution for
recognition and protection of the Macedonian language, but that’s not enough until Bulgaria
makes a similar step, and implements at least three verdicts of the European Court on
Human Rights. Our recent activities finally revealed to the entire Macedonian public that
SDSM and DUI are only interested for power, and don’t care at all what will happen to our
language and identity,” Lefkov said. SDSM MP Mile Talevski once again called upon
Mickoski and VMRO-DPMNE to sooner form working groups for discussions over the
constitutional changes. “We are very glad that Mickoski and VMRO-DPMNE are ready to
support the adoption of the constitutional changes, a position with which they recognise the
legitimacy of our Parliament to conduct this process,” Talevski said.
