The PM Zoran Zaev held a press conference on Tuesday in relation to the recently published recording of a phone conversation between him and Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuzentsov and Alexey Stolarov. In the recording, one of the pranksters presents himself to Zaev as the former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The recording provoked a great deal of reactions by the Macedonian public, mostly about the part in which PM Zaev allegedly claims he is ready to pay 100,000 euros for resolution of the independence status of the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MOC). “This action of these people lasts for several years now, and it is interesting to note that they target state officials from countries aspiring to become part of Western alliances like NATO. I am just another “victim” of these pranksters, which also managed to prank Emanuel Macron, Boris Johnson, Mikhail Saakashvili, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and many others. When it comes to the talks about MOC, I am a victim of my own openness. I tend to remain open and transparent for numerous matter, because the citizens and their well-being are my top priority,” Zaev said, adding that the government implemented all protocols for international communications and no state secrets were revealed.
