Zaev: Reforms achieved so far strong Arguments for EU Membership Talks

The PM Zoran Zaev remains optimistic that the EU will determine a date for start of membership negotiations with Macedonia this June. “I have just arrived from Berlin following meetings with German chancellor Merkel and French president Macron. We have big friends in Europe. This year, the country not will become a NATO member, but it will also launch accession talks with the EU,” Zaev declared. The Vice-PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani shares the optimism with Zaev, saying that the decision of the EU in June will be decisive for keeping the momentum of progress that took over the entire Balkan region. “Once European Parliament elections are over, in order to maintain their credibility, member states must keep their promises and the country should be given a date for the launch of negotiations,” Osmani said.
