80 votes for the constitutional changes still haven’t been secured. On Friday, PM Zoran Zaev will begin negotiations with Bilall Kasami’s BESA and Ziadin Sela’s Alliance for Albanians and ask them to support the process. Regarding NATO Sec Gen Jens Stoltenberg’s letter, he described it on Thursday as encouraging. The PM said he believed both sides would ratify the name deal towards the end of January. According to Zaev, Macedonia currently doesn’t need early parliamentary elections that would potentially be held together with the presidential ones. Regarding the amnesty process, the PM stated that it had to happen, considering both Macedonia’s strategic interests and the divisions in the country. As far as the Criminal Code changes are concerned, he said they wouldn’t affect cases run by the Special Prosecutor’s Office. When it comes to former PM Nikola Gruevski’s escape, the PM stated that an investigation was still underway, adding that it was a matter of days before institutions presented full information. As he stressed, there are no secret deals and politics hasn’t been involved in the escape. “I would open all borders right away,” the PM said, commenting on Albanian PM Edi Rama’s statements about the opening of Albania’s borders towards neighborus, a message that has been interpreted differently in the neighbourhood.
