PM Zoran Zaev, commenting on the fact that China returned Macedonia the money paid in advance for the Chinese COVID-19 vaccines, said that it is not good for public money to stay on the account of an organ of a foreign country. “The Health Ministry already explained that the advance payment was withdrawn because we are still waiting for feedback from the Foreign Ministry of the People’s Republic of China. We cannot allow ourselves to have public money staying in a foreign country until all processes are complete. Once procedures between the Foreign Ministries are done, then we shall pay the money for the 200,000 vaccines. We are also conducting a second procedure for another procurement of vaccines from China, and at the same time we also are formalising procedures for procurement of vaccines from Russia,” Zaev said.
