Zakharova: Claims of Russian Involvement in Macedonian Election Absurd

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs rebuffed and qualified as absurd the claims by certain media that there was Russian interference in the process of the 2020 parliamentary election in Macedonia that took place on1 5 July. “Suspicions and accusations against Russia are unclear and purposely vague, and at the same time direct Western pressure on the citizens of North Macedonia is presented as something legitimate. It was difficult not to notice a series of widely disseminated video messages of senior Western politicians, including heads of government and ministers, during the election campaign in North Macedonia. Speculations about the presence of a certain Russian influence are absolutely unfounded and seem completely absurd,” said Spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova.
