Thursday’s operation carried out jointly by the Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organised Crime and Corruption and Interior Ministry saw 13 people arrested. One man is at large, the institutions said.
The group, according to the authorities, was involved in mediation in prostitution and drug trafficking, while it would cover the money made from that by laundering both it and the other income.
Searches were conducted at 17 locations in the Tetovo region and Ohrid. The group, the authorities also stated, was led by a 35-year-old from Bogovinje village, who would organise and coordinate criminal activities at hospitality venues in Zerovjane, Gorno Sedlarce, and Ohrid, in addition to, at the same time, inducing female foreign citizens working as strip club dancers to prostitution.
The group, the Office and police explained, included also a Tetovo prison officer, as well as a higher inspector from the same city. A detention measure has been sought for all detainees.
