2023 Global Judicial Digitalisation Summit in Ohrid

At the 2023 Global Judicial Digitalisation Summit, organised in Ohrid by the Justice Ministry and the ICT Coordination Council of the Judiciary, supported by the OSCE Mission and the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX), there was criticism on Tuesday of both the recent Criminal Code changes and the Draft-Law on Amnesty.

Judge Lazar Nanev asked regarding the latter whether there was a proper analysis about how many persons would be amnestied. Judicial Council President Sasko Georgiev said that though the judiciary was being criticised, it was Parliament that had adopted the Code changes that had resulted in expiration of the statute of limitations over a fair share of cases. Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Maricic, too, was among the participants.

He talked about digitalisation of the court system in the frames of the Judicial Reform Strategy for the period from 2023 to 2027.
